FalconStor Announces Latest Release of StorSafe® VTL and Introduces StorSight® for IBM Power Environments

Advanced data protection optimization and management for the multi-cloud IBM Power ecosystem

Austin, Texas (January 17, 2024) – FalconStor Software today announces the immediate availability of StorSafe v11.13, including StorSight – FalconStor’s advanced hybrid cloud data protection management console – tailored for IBM Power environments spanning on-premises to multi-cloud instances.

StorSafe v11.13 brings several significant enhancements, solidifying its position as the de facto standard for IBM Power data protection and recovery optimization, including expanded support for Power10. A notable addition is StorSight, a hybrid cloud management console providing centralized management across on-premises sites or virtual IBM Power environments. StorSight’s single-pane-of-glass view can efficiently manage all instances of StorSafe in any IBM Power environment, from on-premises Power Systems to Power Virtual Servers in the IBM Cloud or other cloud platforms. StorSafe with StorSight facilitates advanced data protection management of on-premises backup, fostering the adoption of hybrid and multi-cloud deployments. This includes multi-tenancy, streamlined license management, real-time reporting, analytics, and forecasting, together making hybrid cloud deployment, workload migration, and cross-cloud transitions more manageable.

“StorSafe is an important tool for our strategic vision of helping IBM customers optimize their Power environments,” said Robert Moniz, President at GlassHouse Systems US. “Now, with the addition of StorSight, we can further enhance our ability to assist customers in their cloud journey, including hybrid cloud adoption, workload migration, and multi-tenancy, across multiple virtual IBM Power environments.”

StorSafe v11.13 with StorSight introduces these enhancements to IBM Power environments:

  • IBM Power Environments: Enhanced Power10 support via Fibre Channel and iSCSI, support for NAS on Power Servers, and enhanced tape support.
  • Enhanced Ransomware Protection: Recovery from immutable copies of data even if the original VTL is destroyed.
  • Simplified Management: Single-pane-of-glass management for any number of StorSafe instances, whether on-premises or in any supported cloud, along with centralized license management.
  • Secure Multi-Tenancy: Role-based administration for MSPs (Managed Service Providers) offering backup-as-a-service or organizations deploying chargebacks.
  • True Multi-Cloud Support: Support for IBM Power Virtual Server instances in IBM Cloud or other public or private cloud platforms, enabling simplified workload migration and enhanced protection with secondary PowerVS support for Disaster Recovery. Additionally, extension of support for cloud object storage beyond IBM COS to the major public clouds.
  • Comprehensive Visibility: Single view of replication, deduplication, and retention across on-premises and cloud for hybrid cloud backup and recovery.
  • Centralized Management and Reporting: Real-time visibility into backup status, health, integrity, historical trends, and insights.

In addition to managing StorSafe instances, StorSight can also manage FalconStor StorGuard, enterprise-class software providing synchronous or asynchronous data replication, continuous data protection, and high availability within x86 environments. With StorSight’s extensible design and support for RESTful API, additional multi-application management is planned, including management of additional backup products, replication, and cloud management.

“As the only backup optimization solution certified by IBM and available through the IBM Cloud Catalog, StorSafe has been embraced by the IBM community,” said Todd Brooks, CEO of FalconStor. “Now, with the addition of StorSight, in collaboration with IBM, we’re offering a broader solution that further optimizes data protection within IBM Power environments, both on-premises and in the cloud.”

StorSafe v11.13 with StorSight is available today from IBM and IBM Business Partners via the IBM Cloud Catalog.
