Every IBM Power shop has a backup. Far fewer have proof that the backup will actually get the business running again after a ransomware hit, a corrupted database, or a failed upgrade. That gap between “we back up” and “we can recover” is exactly what auditors, insurers, and boards are now asking about.
On October 13, Power by Fortra and FalconStor brought validated recovery within reach of thousands of IBM Power and IBM i organizations. And the way they did it points to something bigger: a recovery validation platform that any software vendor or service provider in the IBM Power ecosystem can build on.
Power by Fortra launched Continuity Care, a fully managed cyber resilience and recovery validation service for IBM Power and IBM i organizations. It runs on two FalconStor technologies, Habanero and Cloud Clean Room. Habanero vaults IBM Power data offsite to immutable IBM Cloud Object Storage, so a clean copy survives whatever happens to production. Cloud Clean Room provides the isolated environment on IBM PowerVS where each quarterly recovery test runs. There’s no need to rip and replace existing backup infrastructure. Power by Fortra wraps both in a managed service that includes the testing, reporting, and ongoing support. Customers can start small. An entry option covers offsite backup with Fortra’s backup reporting and validation, and customers can add Cloud Clean Room and full quarterly recovery testing whenever they are ready.
The timing reflects real demand. Fortra’s 2026 IBM i Marketplace Survey ranked IBM i skills as the top concern among IBM i professionals, and 47% of respondents named data recovery as a major issue. Continuity Care answers both: Fortra supplies the skills, and FalconStor supplies the infrastructure that turns recovery from an assumption into helping with documented proof.
Building on FalconStor’s Innovation
In cybersecurity, data protection, and IT services, developing a new capability from the ground up can take significant time, investment, and specialized expertise. Fortra didn’t have to build clean room orchestration, provision IBM Cloud infrastructure, or hire PowerVS specialists. That’s by design. When FalconStor launched Cloud Clean Room in July 2026, it built it as a standalone infrastructure layer that third-party software vendors and service providers can license and embed.
The problem it solves is well documented. HyperFRAME Research found that 91% of organizations call cyber resilience a priority, yet only 30% are very confident in how fast they could recover from an attack. The weak link isn’t capturing data; it’s proving recovery. Standing clean room infrastructure has traditionally been expensive, slow to stand up, and dependent on scarce expertise.
Habanero and Cloud Clean Room replace the standing replica with on-demand infrastructure. For each recovery test, it spins up fresh IBM Power LPARs from a known-clean state, validates the restore, documents the result, and then decommissions the LPARs so nothing carries forward. Through its patent-pending Zero Trust Secure Enclave (ZTSE) technology, FalconStor has developed the foundation for creating secure, isolated environments in IBM Cloud. Designed to support multi-tenant services, the technology gives third-party software vendors, system integrators, and service providers a potential path to incorporate clean room capabilities into their own offerings.
That’s the opportunity behind FalconStor Software’s partnership with Fortra, and it points to a much broader vision for how FalconStor’s technology can help power the next generation of cloud-based services. The common thread is simple: any offering that needs an isolated, disposable, verifiably clean IBM Power environment can plug into Habanero and Cloud Clean Room instead of building one.
FalconStor sees the technology as a foundational layer for any scenario that needs on-demand, isolated compute and storage that runs reliably and leaves no carried-forward risk.
What’s next
Organizations across industries are looking for ways to strengthen security, isolate sensitive workloads, and deliver specialized services without taking on the cost and operational burden of maintaining dedicated infrastructure for every use case.
For technology providers, meeting these demands can mean building complex infrastructure, developing security controls, and creating the orchestration needed to manage isolated environments reliably.
The partnership with Fortra represents an important step in demonstrating the potential of FalconStor Habanero and Cloud Clean Room technology. The result is a different way to think about clean room technology: not simply as a standalone product, but as an enabling capability that other companies can use to expand their portfolios.
