FALCONSTOR PARTNERS WITH EGENERA TO DELIVER DISASTER RECOVERY, BACKUP SERVICES TO WHOLESALE CLOUD CUSTOMERS
FreeStor is implemented as part of Xterity cloud service offerings enabling agile, protected and reliable, storage for both physical and virtual environments
MELVILLE, N.Y., September 15, 2015 — FalconStor Software® Inc. (NASDAQ: FALC), a 15-year innovator of software-defined storage solutions, today announced that Egenera, a provider of white label cloud services, has based its disaster recovery and backup protection capabilities on FalconStor’s FreeStor™ hardware-agnostic data services software platform.
Egenera’s Xterity Cloud Services delivers a full range of dedicated, managed, private and hybrid cloud services, including Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) and Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS), exclusively through the channel. With Xterity, resellers can quickly enter the cloud services market with no up-front capital or ongoing maintenance costs. Unlike reselling public cloud services, Xterity wholesale provides the margins resellers need to develop a profitable cloud services business.
The use of FreeStor’s backup and disaster recovery capabilities are providing market differentiation for Egenera as it delivers revenue generating services for key partners, including managed service providers (MSPs), and independent software vendors (ISVs). FreeStor technology easily enables the company to provide managed backup (BaaS) and disaster recovery (DRaaS) services with a range of RPO and RTO packages. This enables Xterity customers to satisfy requirements from a number of hours down to just a few minutes. Storage optimization benefits also ensure profitability by protecting margins. FreeStor is currently being used as part of Egenera’s Xterity offerings on all of the company’s clouds in Europe and the United States, and will be implemented as part of its first Asian cloud launching later this year.
“FreeStor is an integral part of the Xterity brand,” said Scott Harris, Vice President of Services at Egenera. “We feel that it’s the right fit for our product line and it allows us to address a unique market need. In fact, it’s the No. 1 most popular service that we have right now. Our ability to offer solid backup and DR services has enabled us to offer new revenue generating services to both new and existing customers.”
FreeStor's horizontal architecture unlocks a new world of storage focused IT opportunities, allowing IT managers, MSPs and Cloud Service Providers CSPs to maximize efficiencies and lower costs while taking advantage of cloud, hybrid cloud, flash storage and Software-Defined Storage. A groundbreaking Intelligent Abstraction® approach delivers seamless access and unified data services across entire storage infrastructures without having to invest in new technology, or rip and replace existing platforms. Always-on availability and continuity keep business running while enabling them to move, synchronize and protect data seamlessly across virtual and physical storage platforms.
“We are pleased to partner with Egenera to provide FreeStor’s disaster recovery and backup services as part of the larger Xterity offerings,” said Gary Quinn, FalconStor President and CEO. “FreeStor drives smart, reliable cloud data protection services to reduce costs and improve performance. By enabling their customers to move data protection operations to the cloud in order to deliver efficient backup and disaster recovery and help drive service-oriented data protection, Egenera is ensuring that its consulting company, ISV and MSP customers have the differentiating services needed to compete in today’s cloud-based storage environment.”
