FalconStor® Continuous Data Protector (CDP) represents a paradigm shift in backup and recovery. Recovery procedures go from lengthy and involved, to simple and near-instantaneous. FalconStor CDP is a block-level disk-based data protection solution with a comprehensive set of standard functions not commonly found in similar solutions: full-volume mirrors, point-in-time snapshots, individual transaction recovery via cache or disk-based continuous journal, flexible data protection configurations per individual volume, and the ability to implement any of these functions on any storage infrastructure.

Zero-impact backups
Backup operations can be even more challenging in a virtual server environment than in a physical one. CPU and network resources are optimized to high rates of utilization, leaving very little resources available to perform backup jobs. FalconStor CDP changes the resource-intensive once-a-day backup process into a continuous no-impact data protection process. This removes any impact on VMware environments and produces far more granular recovery points, minimizing the potential of data loss.

Continuous availability and instant recovery
Application-aware snapshot agents take point-in-time copies with 100% transactional consistency to enable instant recovery, making the secondary backup copy of VMware data created by FalconStor CDP readily available to execute recovery processes in case of a failure or any data lose in the primary storage infrastructure. Instantaneous data recovery is as simple as mounting FalconStor CDP snapshot volumes to the primary or standby servers, and as granular as a single file or mailbox.
