James P. McNiel
President and Chief Executive Officer
Jim McNiel is FalconStor's president and chief executive officer. McNiel joined FalconStor as chief strategy officer in December 2009 and assumed the role of president and CEO in January 2011. McNiel’s vision is to establish FalconStor as the number one name in quality data protection solutions. He is the architect of the company’s service-oriented data protection strategy and an advocate of open and transparent management systems.
Prior to joining FalconStor, McNiel was co-founder and CEO of Fifth Generation Systems, a social networking startup. Prior to that, he was a general partner at Pequot Ventures (now FirstMark Capital) for nine years, where he managed successful investments in Netegrity, NetGear, OutlookSoft, and other technology companies. In addition, McNiel was a key member of the Cheyenne Software executive team that led the company to market leadership in backup software, culminating in a high-value sale to Computer Associates in1996. McNiel started his career as a software developer for LucasFilm Ltd. McNiel studied Business and Advanced Management at The Wharton School and Finance at MIT's Sloan School of Management.
Bernie Wu
Vice President of Business Development
Bernie Wu is the vice president of business development for FalconStor Software and has responsibility for global OEM, reseller and technology partnerships. Prior to joining FalconStor in 2000, Wu was senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Internet Outsourcing Division of Trend Micro, a leading Internet security software company, where he had worldwide responsibility for defining, launching and managing OEM, service and alliance partnerships. Before Trend Micro, Wu held various executive and managerial positions at Intel, Seagate, Conner Peripherals, and Computer Associates/Cheyenne in areas including product development, marketing, and OEM/channel sales. Wu holds a BS/MS in engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from the University of California at Los Angeles Anderson School of Management.
Bob Daly
Vice President of Research and Development
Bob Daly is vice president of R&D for FalconStor Software and is responsible for driving the development and delivery of FalconStor’s data protection technologies and solutions. A 30-year veteran of the software industry, Bob joined FalconStor in early 2010 as the vice president of managed services. Prior to joining FalconStor, he was principal of RD Consulting Services, LLC, which addressed the needs of growing software firms using tailored workshops with emphasis on productive process improvement for high-quality product development and delivery. Daly served as chief operations officer for VidiPax, LLC, a media migration company serving diverse clientele including major colleges and universities, government, and high-profile entertainment companies. Daly was vice president of engineering at Cheyenne Software, where he was instrumental in bringing the company to profitability through product excellence before its acquisition by Computer Associates for $1.3 billion. Daly has a bachelor of science degree from Rutgers University and completed post-graduate work at C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University.
Bryan Urquhart
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
An experienced finance and operations executive with 20 years of experience, Bryan Urquhart oversees FalconStor’s worldwide financial operations. Urquhart served as executive vice president and CFO at a division of Intergraph Corporation. Prior to Intergraph, he was the senior vice president of worldwide operations and finance at Computer Associates, Inc. (CA), where he managed strategic planning, development, and business operations. Urquhart joined CA after its acquisition of Sterling Software, where he was vice president and CFO of the Storage Management Division. Urquhart received a degree in accounting from the Glasgow College of Technology.
Fadi Albatal
Vice President of Worldwide Marketing
As the vice president of worldwide marketing, Fadi Albatal is responsible for promoting FalconStor’s leadership in data protection by overseeing product management and global marketing. In his dual role, Albatal defines market requirements, product definition, and overall marketing strategy that will enhance FalconStor’s international market leadership and brand recognition. Albatal brings to FalconStor technical and marketing experience with large scale storage systems. Prior to FalconStor, he was part of the product marketing team at Dell/EqualLogic where he led the company's strategic alliance and go-to-market strategy with Microsoft. Albatal holds a master's degree in computer science from ESIG, Lyon, France.
Gil Arbel
Vice President of Global Services and Support
Gil Arbel is responsible for FalconStor’s worldwide technical service and support operations, including training and education, technical support, and professional services. Arbel has wide-ranging management experience in software, hardware, and services, from early stage start-up ventures to Fortune 500 companies. Previously Arbel led CounterStorm, a start-up in IT security, as president and CEO; he also managed product and marketing strategies at Enterasys Networks, an enterprise-level secure networks provider; and he served as president of Sapiens Americas Corporation, a global application solution provider in the supply chain and insurance industries. Before that Arbel held executive positions with Computer Associates and Cheyenne Software. Arbel has a master’s degree in business administration and finance from the City University of New York and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Ben Gurion University in Israel.
Gary Quinn
Vice President of North American Sales
As vice president of sales in North America, Gary Quinn drives FalconStor’s channel sales organization, channel partner network, and all related sales activity. With more than 20 years at CA Technologies, Quinn served as executive vice president of international sales and North American channel sales. In his executive sales role at CA, Quinn turned around a three-year decline of the company’s North American channel business to an annual growth rate of 25 percent. He has more than 15 years of executive experience in the rapidly evolving field of technology, specifically within the partner community, assisting in generating revenue streams and strengthening relationships. Most recently, Quinn was the Commissioner of Information Technology (CIO) at Suffolk County Department of Information Technology. He received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Hofstra University.
Philippe Bernard
General Manager and Vice President of Sales and Marketing, EMEA
As general manager and vice president of sales, Bernard oversees all of FalconStor’s operations throughout EMEA. Bernard has more than 20 years of experience in storage and technology sales. During 10 years at Brocade Communications, he directed international sales and professional services in positions across Europe, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. Prior to Brocade, Bernard worked for Quantum, Seagate, and Digital Equipment Corporation. Bernard graduated from the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Dijon business school with a degree in marketing.
Seth Horowitz
Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
Mr. Horowitz brings to FalconStor a wide range of legal experience. Prior to joining FalconStor, Mr. Horowitz held positions with NewView Technologies, Inc., a supply chain software company, and Reliance Group Holdings, Inc., a diversified insurance holding company, and was with Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. Following law school, Mr. Horowitz was a law clerk to Judge Milton Pollack. Mr. Horowitz received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his A.B. from Harvard College.
Suresh Nair
General Manager and Vice President of Sales and Marketing, APAC
Suresh Nair directs FalconStor’s sales operations through the Asia Pacific region, driving sales and furthering the company’s market penetration and leadership. Nair has extensive storage sales experience, most recently as regional sales director for EMC’s unified storage business in Asia Pacific and Japan. Prior to EMC, Nair was regional director of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for NetApp, Inc., regional sales director for ASEAN/India at McData Corporation, and regional business director in Asia Pacific for Hewlett Packard. Nair holds a bachelor’s degree in information technology from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia.
